This national level examination is jointly conducted by IISC, Bangalore and seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee). This year, IISC, Bangalore will act as the organizing institute.
Master's Degree or Direct Doctoral Programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture in Institutions/Agencies under Ministry of Education based on score in GATE Exam. Doctoral programs can be pursued in Arts and Science subjects. In addition, the Ministry of Education (MoE) provides scholarship/assistantship. MoE offers scholarships based on GATEScore, academic record/ interviews.
Many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) shortlist candidates based on GATE score and provide job opportunities.

GATE score is taken into consideration for direct recruitment of Group A level posts in Central Government.

Age: No upper age limit. You can write as many times as you like.
Selection: Based on score in Computer Based Test
Total Papers: 30
Exam Pattern: The exam will be conducted in objective mode. Multiple choice questions, multiple select questions, numerical answer type questions are given. The duration of the exam is three hours. Candidates can choose one or two papers. But these should be selected only according to the combinations given by the administrator. There is a negative marking system in the exam.
