Laptops-Tablets | The central government on Friday clarified the ban imposed on the import of laptops, tablets, ultra-small computers and servers from abroad. Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar tweeted that the ban is not going to be implemented immediately. He said that since some orders have already been placed, the tech companies are being given a transition period of four months. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the Directorate General of Foreign Trade will soon issue a notification regarding the transition period to implement the ban on the import of laptops, tablets and personal computers. It is known that on Thursday, the Center has announced a ban on their import to encourage their domestic manufacture under the Made in India policy along with security. The deadline for application for licenses for import of laptops, tablets and personal computers is also likely to be extended. It is known that this will give relief to the tech companies. The central government's strategy seems to be to block the import of electronics and gadgets from South Korea and China.
